Monday, April 24, 2006, 6-8 PM, TOP DECORATORS CREATE EAST SIDE DREAM HOUSE TO BENEFIT KIPS BAY BOYS & GIRLS CLUB, Venue: 4 E. 75th Street at Fifth Avenue—Tours of the Show House, Ukrainian Institute, 2 East 79th Street—Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres: One of the season’s most elegant, glittering and visually stunning events took place on Monday, April 24, 2006 in an unoccupied $55 million Upper East Side townhouse at the 34th annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House Opening Night Gala. The home (located at 4 E. 75th Street) has been transformed into a fantastic dream residence by 26 of the nation’s leading decorators, including Mario Buatta, Thom Filicia, Costas Kondylis, Larry Laslo and Charlotte Moss -- all to benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. The designers have each created a trend-setting masterpiece in one of the townhouse’s rooms – 26 magnificent spaces in all. Six hundred social figures and celebrities previewed the design magic at the annual gala, chaired by Robert Couturier and Tony Ingrao. The evening concluded with a cocktail reception at the nearby Ukrainian Institute (2 E. 79th Street) This year’s participating designers are Barbara Ostrom Associates, Campion Platt, Charles Pavarini III Design Associates, Charlotte Moss Interior Design, Christopher Maya Associates, Eric Cohler Design, Joel Allen Design, John Landrum Bryant, Katina Arts-Meyer, Katherine Newman Design, Kenneth Hockin Interiors, Kondylis Design and Costas Kondylis and Partners Architects, Larry Laslo Designs, Mario Buatta, Richard Mishaan Design, St. Charles of New York, Schermerhorn Interior Design, Shaver/Melahn Studios, Sherrill Canet Interiors, Susan K. Gutfreund, Thom Filicia and Tonin MacCallum A.S.I.D. Proceeds benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, a non-profit organization that provides after-school and enrichment and development programs for close to 12,000 Bronx children ages six to 18. The Show House project will raise approximately $1.5 million for the club, with public viewing April 25 through May 23, 2006.
