January 16, 2006 22nd Annual CORE Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., National Holiday Celebration:An Ambassadorial Reception and Awards Dinner at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers, 53rd Street & 7th Avenue. This event is generally held on the third (3rd) Monday of January each year in New York City. The First CORE Martin Luther King, Jr. National Holiday Celebration was in January 1984. This event is one of the largest King Holiday Celebrations in the country. Hosted by Hon. Roy Innis, National Chairman Congress of Racial Equality ("CORE"). This years event honored Hon. Haley Barbour,Governor of Mississippi and USHER for their work contributing to the advancement of Civil Rights. Special Guests included H.E. John R.
