5th Annual Samsung Four Seasons of Hope Gala : Thursday, June 22, 2006, 6:15 Tavern on the Green, Central Park, New York City-- 5th Annual Samsung Four Seasons of Hope Gala Dinner: Faith Hill and husband Tim McGraw gave an exclusive performance at the Tavern on the Green in Central Park. The gala event helped raise funds for Hill + McGraw’s recently established charity the Neighbors Keeper Foundation, which assists Hurricane Katrina victims, still in need of help. This was their first benefit concert for Neighbors Keeper Foundation! Samsungs Four Seasons of Hope also honored the philanthropic efforts of sports legends Arnold Palmer, Joe Torre, Boomer Esiason, Earvin Magic Johnson and Wayne Gretzky, as well as music superstar Jon Bon Jovi, former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Samsungs retail partners Best Buy, Circuit City, Sears and CompUSA. New York Junior League Playground Improvement Project--Jackie Robinson Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony : Saturday, June 10, 2006,12:00-3:00 PM at Jackie Robinson Park, located between West 145th and 155th Streets from Bradhurst to Edgecombe Avenues, The New York Junior League—Jackie Robinson Park Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: The New York Junior League(NYJL) via their Playground Improvement Project successfully completed an ambitious five-week renovation at Jackie Robinson Park in Manhattan. The Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was held to celebrate the beautification of this vital neighborhood site and commemorate the Fifteenth Annual Playground Improvement Project (PIP) completed by the NYJL. Event Co-Chairs were Kristina Kloberdanz and Amy McCready. The ceremony featured remarks from Sonya Pankey, granddaughter of baseball icon Jackie Robinson Commissioner Adrian Benepe, NYC Dept. of Parks and Recreation, Borough Commissioner William T. Castro, Assemblyman Hermann “Denny” Farrell, NYC District 7 Councilmember, Robert Jackson and NYJL President Cynthia Cathcart. Rachel Robinson, widow of Jackie Robinson was unable to attend. Sonya Pankey paid tribute to the efforts of the New York Junior League, its volunteers and the significance of these community understakings by quoting her grandfather, the late Jackie Robinson, in stating: "A Life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives." The newly renovated band shell (Mural by Artist Michael Young) included performances by the Children’s Aid Society Chorus, Harlem School of the Arts and the "incredibly talented" Jo-Lee Dancers. For nearly 105 years the New York Junior League (NYJL), a nonprofit organization of trained women volunteers has been a leader in identifying and responding to unmet community needs. Approximately 2800 volunteers collectively donate over 250,000 hours of service to better the lives of women and children in New York City each year. Through direct service, collaborations with community organizations and advocacy, the NYJL provides a positive force for change within the communities it serves. "Fight" for families of 9/11 at a special fundraising gala to benefit Tuesday's Children. Boxers from the NYPD duked it out against their counterparts from Los Angeles. The evening also included cocktails, dinner and a silent auction. Aria Giovanni, Penthouse Cover Girl served as the evening's ring girl. Her charming persona engaged the crowd. Wanda Murphy Unveils her "In Memory of You" Collection at Ezair Gallery in Southampton : Sunday, May 28, 2006, 6-8 PM, Critically acclaimed artist Wanda Murphy opened her solo art show with a collection entitled "In Memory Of You" with a private reception at the Ezair Gallery, 136 Main Street, Southampton, New York. Wanda Murphy has exhibited her works throughout the East Coast and they are currently on display at the Ezair Gallery on Madison Avenue in New York City. Her works have been compared to Chagall, Modigliani and Picasso. Those admiring her use of color and lines and sipping on Palmes d'Or 1996 Champagne and Imperial Vodka cocktails included Frances Hayward, Jamee Gregory and Peter Gregory, Ann Dexter-Jones, Maggie Katz, Annie Churchill, Lucia Hwong- Gordon, singer/singwriter Samantha Cole, Countess Sharon Sondes and Geoffrey Thomas, gallery curator Marijana Bego, Michelle Herbert, Elaine Sargent, Alan Z. Feuer, Alice Judelson, Lisa and Anthony Punnett, designer Arnold Scaasi, Carole and Tim Reed, Dana and Dr. Patrick Stubgen, photographer Gideon Lewin and designer Joanna Mastroianni, interior designer Michael Burrell, Gillian Miniter and Sylvester Miniter, Mark Gilbertson, Pink Elephant Club owner David Sarner and his wife Renee, Valeria Kissel and Sean Olnowich. After the gallery show, Wanda hosted a dinner next door at Nello Summertimes's for her guests. The restaurant served its classic Northern Italian cuisine and afterward several people moved next door to the newly opened Safari-themed Nello Lounge. After dinner David Sarner moved the party over to Pink Elephant Club Southampton, at the Capri Hotel on Route 27.
