Charity Event for Peace House Foundation : Wednesday, August 22, 2007,  6:00-9:00 pm,   Herman Miller's New York National Design Center, 17th floor Showroom, 1177 Avenue of the Americas,  Between 45th & 46th Streets, New York, NY.   6:00 pm Reception, Meet the Designers, 7:00 pm  Live Auction of Redesigned Eames Chairs. Office furniture manufacturer Herman Miller, Inc. held a live and silent auction to benefit the Peace House Foundation at their New York design center.  Eleven renowned designers were asked to recreate the classic "Eames" chair to be auctioned off.  Todd Oldham, Ayse Birsel, David Rockwell, Jim Richard & Kelly Bauer, Edelman Leather, Jaime Drake, Janine James, Michael Gabellini, Pentagram, Luna Textiles and Maharam were designers and companies whose unique interpretations of the chairs were sold at the event by live auction. Sebastian Clarke of Freemans Auctioneers conducted the Live Auction.  Peace House Foundation is a U.S. based, non-profit organization committed to educating children affected by the AIDS pandemic in East Africa. Philanthropist Henry Buhl and Academy Award Wining Actress Jane Fonda hosted the Sunflowers After Hours Gala Dinner and Auction to  Benefit homeless Men and Women of the Association of Community Employment Programs for the Homeless (A.C.E.)  Honorary Chairs: Jane Fonda & A.C.E. Founder, Henry Buhl. Co Chairs: Edward Bulgin, Keith & Adriana Dupree, Mariana & George Kaufman, Carole Rome, Fred Stahl & Jacqueline Stahl, Brent R.Nicklas, Greg & Debra Wasser and Bobby & Jill Zarin.  This year's event honored Lynn Blodgett, Dominick D'Alleva & Robin Cofer and John Paulson for their continued support towards helping homeless men and women.  The evening was hosted by CBS-2 Correspondent, Kristin Cole with a special performance by Tony Award winner Sarah Jones ("Bridge and Tunnel") and featured dancing to the NYC Swing Orchestra. The evening also included a Silent and Live auction conducted by Sotheby's Eliza Osborne during an Elegant Clam Bake under the stars.
