Natasha Law's "FOLD" Presented by Blair Voltz Clarke : Wednesday, January 31, 2007, 6-8:30 PM, The ANNEX, 601 West 26th Street, Floor 14. Natasha Law FOLD Presented by Blair Voltz Clarke. Blair Clarke presented Fold, English painter Natasha Law’s second highly anticipated solo exhibition in Manhattan. Fold features Law’s signature bold, high-gloss paintings in addition to the artist’s more recent works on paper. The works exhibited in Fold are examples of Law’s expanding repertoire not only in medium but in subject as well. In these latest paintings her signature semi-clothed, cropped and fragmented nudes are joined by additional figures. Her audience will notice this subtle change in addition to the introduction of dry media. Law’s formal interest in folds and shapes within the nude figure has evolved into a linguistic exploration of the word “fold.” In reference to Law’s work “fold” takes on multiple meanings, describing both the curling and twisting creases of flesh that punctuate her compositions as well as the bending of these figures upon themselves. Law’s paintings are at once elegantly minimal and emotionally charged, capturing the nuanced expression of affection inherent in enfolding and embracing. Law graduated from Camberwell college in 2000 and has grown internationally with shows on both sides of the Atlantic: Eleven Gallery in London, Rivington Arms Gallery and Voltz Clarke in Manhattan. THE ANNEX is a unique, independent Gallery Space located in the heart of Chelsea. It offers year-round access to national and international fine arts programs. Natasha Law shined while her paintings were snapped up. The champagne flowed fluidly by Veuve Clicquot and yummy nibbles were devoured from Balduccis.
