The Latin American Health Foundation held its first annual fundraiser, "A Tropical Affair" on Thursday, June 5th, 2008 at The Americas Society Townhouse at 680 Park Avenue. The event’s goal was to raise funds for the construction of a new hospitalization wing for a Children’s Orthopedic Hospital in Caracas, Venezuela: El Hospital Ortopedico Infantil. Guests included: Hayley Bloomingdale, Harry Bloomingdale, Jane Bloomingdale, Christian Cota, Catherine Forbes, Elizabeth Jacoby, Mayra Hernandez, Michel Heredia, Maria Lusia Leviant, Luisana Mendoza, Phoebe Papadopoulos, Jana Pasquel, Sylvana Soto-Ward (See: Sylvana's blog), Angel Sanchez,Samantha Thompson, Richard Turley and Whitney Wolfe. The Latin American Health Foundation invited guests to welcome in the summer season by sipping on mojitos while be transported to Havana's 1940s in the magnificent rooms of the Americas Society. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the construction of a new hospitalization wing for El Hospital Ortopedico Infantil (a children's orthopedic hospital) in Caracas, Venezuela.
