The 13th Annual John Starks Celebrity Classic—consistently a sell-out—is the golf event of the season. 2008 NBA Championship Celtics Head Coach Doc Rivers, along with many other professional sports figures, went head to head in a friendly but fierce competition with John Starks, former NY Knick, and many corporate sponsors, in claiming the coveted winners title, while helping to raise funds and awareness for the John Starks Foundation and scholars in need. The tournament was held at Old Oaks Country Club, 3100 Purchase Street, Purchase, NY. The day commenced with breakfast at 9:30 am, followed by a shotgun start at 10:30 am, and concluded with a Cocktail Awards Luncheon and Auction. The day featured 18 holes of golf with celebrity golfers, followed by an Awards Luncheon with an exciting live and silent auction. Event proceeds will benefit the "3 Point Scholarship" that recognizes New York Tri-State and Tulsa area high school seniors who excel in the classroom and in the community. Since 1994, academic grants have been awarded to students who demonstrate minimum 3.0 GPA, commitment to community service and financial need. Golf guests receive breakfast, tournament gift bags, foursome photographs, food & beverage on the course, awards luncheon and participation in Par 3 Contests.
