Outstanding Volunteers are Nancy C. Brown, Karen L. Chin, Mary Hutchings Cooper, Karen E. Grund and Lisa Boren Sivy. Winter Ball Co-Chairs, 2007-2008: Lori Hohenleitner & Marion McElroy. Master of Ceremonies: Manhattan Borough President, Scott M. Stringer . The Winter Ball returned this year to Cipriani 42nd Street, where NYJL volunteers and their guests delighted in an evening spent in the lavish royal ballroom. The night began with Cocktails and Silent Auction, Sustainers’ Cocktail Reception in the Abbey Annex upper level. Followed by a full cocktail hour overflowing with champagne. Guests then enjoyed a sumptuous seated dinner presented in the Cipriani 42nd Street dining room. Alex Donner & his Orchestra entertained guests during dinner and dancing following dinner. "An Evening at Versailles" was a truly unforgettable evening for all guests as they celebrated the achievements of the NYJL. All proceeds benefit the charitable activities of the NYJL. Today’s New York Junior League honorees and volunteers continue a great tradition. In 1901, Mary Harriman organized a group of dedicated young women who gave their time, talent and energy to ensure that New York City would be a better place to live. Their vision because the first Junior League – The Junior League of the City of New York. The accomplishments of this year’s Outstanding Sustainers and Outstanding Volunteers illustrates the diverse activates undertaken by the New York Junior League in the 104 years since its founding. Collectively, NYJL's 2,900 trained volunteers donate more than 250,000 hours of their time to better the lives of women and children in New York City each year.
