The Hunter College Foundation's 2009 Bridge to Achievement Awards
NEW YORK-NOVEMBER 22:
The Hunter College Foundation's 2009 Bridge to Achievement Awards Gala on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at
The Roosevelt House, 47-49 East 65th Street, Manhattan, New York City. The Hunter College Foundation’s 2009 Bridge to Achievement Awards Gala honored
Roosevelt House, which has been beautifully restored and will soon reopen since its closure in 1992. It will house Hunter’s new
public policy institute honoring the legacy of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. Granddaughter
Anna Eleanor Roosevelt was the honored guest and speaker.
Roosevelt House has been an integral part of
Hunter College since November 22, 1943, when it opened as this country’s first college center dedicated to interfaith and interracial understanding. It served for decades as the hub of student life at Hunter - the site of social gatherings, colloquia, and seminars. It will serve as a fitting home for Hunter’s new undergraduate programs in public policy and human rights, and for high-level public programs and conferences.
