NEW YORK-APRIL 23: The New York Junior League's 10th Annual Spring Auction to Benefit the Playground Improvement Project on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 583 Park Avenue at 63rd Street, New York City, NY. The Playground Improvement Project is a New York Junior League signature community project. Since 1992, the New York Junior League (NYJL) has revitalized and beautified neglected playgrounds and parks in many neighborhoods of New York City. In its 18th year, the mission continues as we partner with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation to restore Morningside Park. The Spring Auction event helps the NYJL raise funds to purchase paint, plants, tile, playground equipment, supplies, professional services (e.g., plumbing, electrical work, roofing) and food for volunteers. Additionally, more than 750 volunteers are needed to bring the project to fruition.
