Carolyn Englefield, Editor-at-Large of Veranda, served as the Decorations Chair. The Sponsors were Tiffany & Co., BNY Mellon, and Veranda. The Orchid Dinner is renowned for its sophistication and glamour and this evening raises more than $500,000 to benefit the Garden’s world renowned and highly celebrated orchid collection and research program. The ongoing generosity of the NYBG's loyal friends in this challenging economic climate is so crucial, and it helps the Garden continue its mission of public education, scientific research, and stewardship of the landmark site. The Orchid Dinner precedes the opening of The Orchid Show: Cuba in Flower in the landmark Enid A. Haupt Conservatory at The New York Botanical Garden. The Orchid Show runs from February 27 through April 11, and features thousands of brilliantly colored orchids set among architectural vignettes from Havana and the surrounding countryside, designed by Cuban-born, Palm Beach-based landscape architect Jorge Sánchez of Sánchez & Maddux.
