NEW YORK-APRIL 25: The 3rd Annual National Meningitis Association's
"Give Kids a Shot" Gala on Monday, April 25, 2011 at the
New York Athletic Club, 180 Central Park South, New York City. This signature fundraising event will help NMA continue and expand its vital work in the fight against meningitis.
Honorary Chairs of the Gala were Ambassador John L. Loeb, Jr. and Nick Springer.
Honorees: NMA honored former New York Giants Football great Bart Oates and his wife Michelle for their 25 year commitment to Pediatric Neurological Research with the Children’s Advocacy Award. NMA also honored James C. Turner, M.D., Professor of Internal Medicine, University of Virginia, for his outstanding leadership in meningococcal disease awareness and prevention with the Health Achievement Award. NMA also recognized Nancy Ford Springer Inspiration Award Honoree, Richard Thomas, iconic actor of stage, screen and television, for his long standing support of NMA. The International Ambassador of Education Through Music Award was presented to Chau-Giang Thi Nguyen for her global charitable efforts through her music,
"American Friends of Vietnam". Two-time Tony winner James Naughton served as Master of Ceremonies and give a special performance.
