The Twelfth Annual Winter Wonderland Ball at The New York Botanical Garden Winter Wonderland Ball will be celebrated on Friday, December 9, 2011. The evening’s Chairmen hosted 350 guests at the holiday party of the season. The Chairmen were Jennifer Creel, Cristina Cuomo, Victoria Vargas D’Agostino, Nina Garcia, Emma J.P.Goergen, Alexandra Lebenthal, Christian Leone, Alexandra Lind Rose, and Molly Sims. The Junior Chairmen were Byrdie Bell, Martin Dawson, Patrick M. Herning, Jamie Johnson, Lily Kwong, Julia Moore, Dalia Oberlander, Lauren Remington Platt, and Gillian Hearst Simonds. The Founding Chairmen are Sloan Barnett, Whitney Fairchild, Pauline Joerger, and Nathalie Kaplan.
This year NYBG is pleased to announce that Saks Fifth Avenue and St. John served as underwriters of the Ball. Additional support was provided by InStyle, Domaine de Canton, and Judith Leiber.
The New York Botanical Garden Winter Wonderland Ball takes place in the magnificent Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, the Garden’s Victorian-style crystal palace. On view in the Conservatory was the 20th Annual Holiday Train Show—an internationally acclaimed display of magnificent model trains winding through a sprawling landscape featuring replicas of iconic New York landmarks. The evening begins with cocktails under the Palm Dome in the grand rotunda, with dinner and dancing in an adjacent beautifully-designed tent. This event supports the Garden’s world-renowned Children’s Education programs, allowing children of all ages, particularly underserved children in the Bronx, an opportunity to learn about nature in engaging ways through workshops and hands-on activities.
Each year since 1999, the Ball has been listed as one of the “Best Parties of the Year.” The New York Botanical Garden Winter Wonderland Ball, an extremely high-profile and visible event,is featured in many of the major fashion and society magazines due to its unique setting, exclusive list of attendees, and incredible leadership committee.
