Hosted by NYU Langone Medical Center dean and CEO, Robert I. This year’s event represented the 23rd Founders Gala and marked the 104th anniversary celebration of HJD. This year’s gala was co-chaired by HJD Advisory Board Chair Robin L. Zuckerman, M.D., chairman, NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases Department of Orthopaedic Surgery; the Walter A.L. Thompson Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, NYU School of Medicine; and president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. “In addition to our continued growth in our field, we have been ranked among the nation’s top hospitals in orthopaedics, rheumatology and rehabilitation by U.S. News & World Report. MAYOR MIKE BLOOMBERG Addresses THE DOE FUND at "What New York Needs" Annual Fundraising Gala Sponsored by TOYOTA : NEW YORK-OCTOBER 29: MAYOR MIKE BLOOMBERG Addresses THE DOE FUND at "What New York Needs" Annual Fundraising Gala Sponsored by Toyota Motor North America on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Cipriani 42nd Street, 110 East 42nd Street, New York City, NY. Mayor Michael Bloomberg introduced George & Harriet McDonald, who were honored by The Doe Fund's Board of Directors for their 25 years of service to the organization. Gala Chairman: Burton Resnick, Chairman and CEO of Jack Resnick & Sons. Gala co-chairs were Craig and Katherine Lucas; Peter and Andrea Resnick; Donna and Marvin Schwartz and Mary Jane Salk. Award-winning correspondent for CBS’ 48 Hours Mystery,Harold Dow, also delivered remarks at the event. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Ready, Willing & Able program, which helps formerly homeless and formerly incarcerated individuals rebuild their lives through paid transitional work and comprehensive support services. The program is best known by its easily recognized “men in blue,” who can be seen every day cleaning more than 150 miles of New York City’s streets and sidewalks while they work their way toward self-sufficiency. In a brief conversation I was able to have with Mayor Mike Bloomberg who has supported The Doe Fund and the efforts of the McDonald's since the organization's infancy, emphasized his strong views about the significance of the organization, stating (and I am paraphrasing) that “the work of the McDonald’s and The Doe Fund is some of the most important charitable work currently being done in New York City.” Mayor Bloomberg, in his address to guests and supporters of The Doe Fund highlighted the history and accomplishments of the organization and its continuing relevance in these uncertain times. As further stated by the Mayor, these are uncertain times where any one of us or our fellow citizens, might someday need a hand up rather than a hand out, so it is critical that we all continue to support the work of The Doe Fund. On an evening where Mayor Bloomberg addressed guests, it should be noted that the Mayor spent a great deal of time listening to as many folks who wanted his ear. In attendance in support of The Doe Fund paying homage to the McDonald’s and their work were business, political and community leaders, including the current and former Mayor David N. Dinkins and DHS Commissioner Robert V. Hess. History: Inspired by the idea that aiding the homeless is more than just giving them a meal or a handout but rather a handup, in 1985, George T. McDonald founded The Doe Fund. In 1990, McDonald established Ready, Willing & Able, a paid work and job skills training program that strives to empower, employ and support homeless and formerly incarcerated individuals in their efforts to become self-sufficient. His award-winning paid-work and training program, Ready, Willing & Able (RWA), went from cleaning a small stretch of sidewalks on the Upper East Side to cleaning over 150 miles of New York streets each day. Over the past two decades, TDF has grown into one of the largest nonprofits in New York, providing work, housing, and comprehensive support services to those who were once considered “unemployable.” PHOTO CREDIT:Copyright ©Manhattan Society.com 2009 by Christopher London | tel: Private |e-mail: ChrisLondon@manhattansociety.com

Whether you’re simply curious about life without meat THE KIND DIET’s three different approaches offer a way to choose the path that’s right for you. The first is called “Flirting,” and it’s simply sticking your toe in the pool of THE KIND DIET. Next is “Vegan”—it’s for experienced flirts and those who, after reading this book, will want to commit to a plant-based diet. The third plan,“Superhero,” emphasizes whole grains, organic vegetables, sea vegetables and will make you practically levitate! And if you’re not ready for one specific path, don’t worry. DL21C—Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century Presents: A Debate on Healthcare Reform: What Works and What Should be Changed? : NEW YORK-OCTOBER 5: DL21C—Democratic Leadership for the 21st Century Presents: A Debate on Healthcare Reform: What Works and What Should be Changed? Featuring Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-Queens, Brooklyn) and Dr. Betsy McCaughey, Health Policy Expert,Patient Advocate and former Lieutenant Governor of New York (1995-1998) on Monday, October 5, 2009 at Farkas Auditorium at NYU/ Langone Medical Center, 550 First Avenue (at 31st Street), New York City, NY. In the spirit of the famous Lincoln - Douglas debates sixteen decades ago, two of the nation's most outspoken individuals on Health Care, Congressman Anthony Weiner and Dr. Betsy McCaughey, presented the issues before us, in a free swinging debate, as Congress prepares to vote on this life altering bill. Ben Smith, Senior Political Writer,Politico served as moderator and the debate was streamed live at www.politico.com NEWSFLASH: On the eve of the debates a media whirlwind engulfed Betsy McCaughey calling into question her integrity or lack thereof for the truth. In a piece by Michelle Cottle at The New Republic entitled No Exit: The never-ending lunacy of Betsy McCaughey, it seems that, as stated by Gawker, the “New Republic Finally Got Around to Calling Betsy McCaughey a Crazy Person” for distorting the truth in her Op-Ed 14 years ago attacking and underming the Clinton Health Care plan by distorting the policy debate. In August, Betsy McCaughey's Ideas were called "Hyperbolic... Dangerous" by Jon Stewart during a polite but devastating smackdown, during an appearance by Betsy McCaughey on his show. Media Matters for America explains the reasons behind why some key media figures have finally taken the opportunity to point out now that Ms. McCaughey is a professional liar and propagandist when they did not in the past and allowed a triumph of misinformation to sabotage the Clinton Healthcare initiative 14 years ago. So perhaps as the NY Times has pointed out, Team Obama has learned something, including coming armed to do battle with powerful and persuasive surrogates to discredit the disinformationalists. Tonight, Congressman Anthony Weiner, a strong supporter of the public option, in going after McCaughey, in a heated debate took off where McCaughey's critics left off and blasted McCaughey with the barb that he felt like he was "debating a pyromaniac in a strawman factory." Tonight, in my humble opinion, we did not just witness a fearless, progressive democratic warrior in action, who is a great voice for New York City, who is leading the charge to get health care reform correct, but perhaps the birth of a future Mayor, a Senator or who knows? HEATHER GRAHAM, Simon Peers & Nicholas Godley host the SPIDER SILK EXHIBITION Reception at the AMERICAN MUSEUM OF NATIONAL HISTORY : NEW YORK-SEPTEMBER 23: HEATHER GRAHAM, Simon Peers & Nicholas Goldey host the SPIDER SILK EXHIBITION Reception on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the American Museum of Natural History ("AMNH"), Grand Gallery, New York City, NY. Actress Heather Graham unveiled the extraordinary Spider Silk exhibit in the American Museum of Natural History (“AMNH”) at an intimate and private reception honoring Simon Peers and Nicholas Godley, the dreamweavers behind the one of a kind textile made from the silk of more than a million spiders. A textile woven from the gossamer threads of spiders has long been the stuff of dreams. This Textile is on loan to AMNH from Simon Peers and Nicholas Godley. Renowned textile artist Simon Peers and fashion entrepreneur Nicolas Godley have taken the impossible from the realm of myth and turned it a unique and fabulous cloth. Drawing inspiration from an eccentric history of attempts to use the silk of spiders in weaving, this unique textile was nearly five years in the making via a painstaking technique that required teams of collectors, 'silkers,' throwers and weavers to produce. More than a million Golden Orb spiders from Madagascar were collected, “silked” (ultra fine, naturally golden-colored silk was carefully extracted by hand from the female spiders’ spinnerets) and released. The result was silk untrammeled, untouched and untreated which then was thrown and mounted on a loom to be woven as pure as the silk in a web. This spectacular textile encompasses an extraordinary history, embodying the diverse meanings and associations that inspire and fire the imagination, nightmare and phobia with tales and myths that resonate within us all. Few textiles can claim such a rich heritage. A sparking gold carpet and bubbly Veuve Clicquot welcomed guests as they entered the Grand Gallery, washed in muted champagne and gold lights. Donna D’Cruz spun gossamer for a guest list which included: Waris Ahluwalia, Victoria Aitken, Count “Calle” and Countess Natalie von Bismarck, Phillip Bloch, Geoffrey Bradfield, Coralie Charriol, Alina Cho, Alistair and Blair Clarke, Colin Cowie, Peter Davis, Lydia Fenet, Lucia Hwong-Gordon, Kimberly Guilfoyle, Zelda Kaplan, Anisha Lakhani, Countess LuAnn de Lesseps, vocalist Pamela Luss, Lara Meiland Shaw, Nicole Miller, Mia Morgan, Tinsley Mortimer, Duncan Quinn, Sessa von Richthofen, jewelry designer Mimi So, Susan Shin, Carlos Souza, Tracy Stern, Gigi Stone, Antony Todd, Eric Villency, Joel Warren, Arden Wohl, Daphne Zuniga and more. In doing so, Student Sponsor Partners. strives to help disadvantaged youths earn their high school diplomas, and thus makes a direct and meaningful impact on their lives. Since 1986, Student Sponsor Partners. (SSP) has been providing at-risk students in New York City with the opportunity of a quality, non-public high school education, through the financial support and one-to-one guidance of a Sponsor. Without the program, SSP students would have no option but to attend their local public high schools, where graduation rates range from just 20% to 30%. In contrast, nearly 80% of SSP students graduate, and over 90% of those graduates go on to pursue higher education. SSP serves youths who are academically at-risk, financially disadvantaged, and socially needy (with roughly three-quarters of our population coming from single-parent homes). Each SSP student is paired with a Sponsor, who provides tuition assistance for the student to attend a private high school and serves as a role model and "academic coach" until graduation day. The combination of a committed Sponsor and a challenging scholastic environment dramatically improves SSP students' prospects, not only for earning their diplomas but also for achieving real and lasting life-success after high school. The Artists vs. Writers 61st Anniversary Charity Softball Game was held for the benefit of East End Hospice, E.H. Day Care and Phoenix House. Over 2,000 celebrities and spectators attended this well-loved Hamptons rite of summer. 1010 WINS anchor Juliet Papa and the legendary Bert Sugar served as the game's announcers. For those keeping score, the game was won by the writers 12-11, giving them an 11-10 edge with one tie over the last 22 years and Mike Lupica of the New York Daily News was the game MVP. But it was the game within the game, the pre-game and the post game which are every bit as part of this beloved Hamptons rite of summer that the defines the essence of a bygone era of simpler, less glamorous times on the East End. In recent years if one were to read the social press, you could almost forget that many folks do still come out East primarily to get away from the hustle of urban life, to barbecue, lay on the beach, share cocktails, play tennis and yes play a game of softball. This year’s teams included: Alec Baldwin, Carl Bernstein, Mort Zuckerman,Lori Singer, B. Smith, Dan Gasby, Greg Bello, Ken Auletta, James Lipton, Jeffrey Lyons, Juliet Papa, Edward Nahem, Kim Stolz, Bonnie Bernstein, Mark Ciardi, Rod Gilbert, Mike Lupica, Bert Sugar, Richard Reeves, Jean Reno and many more to come. The Shari Kurzrok Second Chance for Life Foundation 2nd Annual Benefit and Silent Auction : NEW YORK-AUGUST 12: The Shari Kurzrok Second Chance for Life Foundation 2nd Annual Benefit and Silent Auction--"Sip, Support & Spread the Word" About the Need for Organ Donation on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Manhattan Penthouse, 80 Fifth Avenue at 14th Street, New York City, NY. The foundation was founded when four years ago, Shari Kurzrok Schnall was in the fight of her life after her liver failed unexpectedly from a rare genetic condition called Wilson’s Disease. She received a life saving liver transplant at New York University Langone Medical Center under the care of Dr. Lewis M. Teperman and his team. There are currently more than 102,000 people awaiting a life saving organ transplant, including 10,000 New Yorkers. Sadly, 18 people die every day awaiting a transplant that will never come. This is one field of medicine where the common person CAN make a difference yet, myths and misconceptions about the issue of organ donation, often prevent people from signing up to be an organ donor. All it takes is a simple conversation to learn the facts and make an informed decision. This year’s event kicked-off a new word-of-mouth campaign incorporating personal stories of people touched by organ donation. The video will be edited following the event and distributed through social media and networking sites. Southampton Hospital Centenial Celebration : SOUTHAMPTON-AUGUST 1: Southampton Hospital's 51st Annual Summer Party-- A Centennial Celebration was held on Saturday August 1, 2009, Wickapogue Road, Southampton, New York. Chaired by Sheila O’Malley Fuchs, the event took place under the tents on Wickapogue Road in Southampton. Christie Brinkley served as honorary chair for this year’s event. As in past years, the evening will benefit the Hospital’s Department of Emergency Medicine. “Southampton Hospital is truly fortunate to have such a loyal community to support the tradition of the annual summer party,” comments Steven M. Bernstein, Southampton Hospital’s Foundation President, “This support is critical to the delivery of quality emergency services considering the geographical isolation of the East End communities.” Summer Party attendees danced to the music of Alex Donner under a huge tent transformed by the creativity of Tony Urrutia and Steven Stolman, and enjoyed an elegant catered dinner by Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs. Also featured will be the popular silent auction and a raffle of fabulous and extravagant trips and prizes. Christie Brinkley is more than one of America’s most successful and recognizable models, she has also achieved success as an artist, writer, photographer, designer, actress, political and environmental activist, and perhaps most importantly to her, a mother of three. Ms. Brinkley is an active and dedicated supporter of many organizations and worthwhile causes mainly focused on the well-being of children and the world they live in. She is the proud recipient of many humanitarian awards and has been honored by many distinguished organizations such as Mother’s Choice, Redbook Magazine’s “Mothers and Shakers Award,” Albert Einstein Spirit of Achievement Award, as well as Cookie Magazine’s “Smart Cookie Award.” PHOTO CREDIT: Sara-Herbert Galloway for ManhattanSociety.com

iStar Charity Foundation 7th Annual iStar Charity Shootout : NEW YORK-JULY 20: iStar Charity Foundation 7th Annual iStar Charity Shootout---"CHANGE THE GAME . . .GET ON THE COURT!" on Monday, July 20, 2009 at Madison Square Garden, New York City, NY. Even a recession couldn’t keep sports stars, celebrities and entertainers from joining influential business leaders and children of all ages in a friendly basketball competition at the 7th Annual Charity Shootout. The event attracted approximately 1,200 attendees and raised over $350,000 for children’s education and human rights organizations. Keeping with tradition, this year’s event featured athletes, entertainers and prominent business leaders participating in various basketball competitions designed to raise money for the four charities. Highlights of the evening included big money-making “Supershots” by Supermodel Emme, for $40,000 and New York Knicks number-one draft pick, Danilo Gallinari, connecting on a shot worth $26,000. Also at the event, actor Hugh Jackman and actress Vivica A. Fox joined Gallinari and his teammate Wilson Chandler and former Knicks stars Anthony Mason and Charles Smith, as well as former NY Liberty women’s star Kym Hampton and super middleweight boxing contender, Michael Olajide as guest judges for the slam dunk competition. The evening also featured performances by the Harlem Wizards, Knicks City Kids, “Maddie” the Mascot and a special halftime performance by beatboxers Kid Lucky, Shockwave of PBS TV’s re-tooled classic “The Electric Company®”, Butterscotch, an “America’s Got Talent” finalist and Swiss Chris. WNBC-TV sports anchor, Bruce Beck, once again served as master of ceremonies. Those who joined Jay & Kelly Sugarman and friends shared in the magic of the evening and the great feeling they received by helping the iStar Charity Foundation support causes that help kids and their families, advance education and promote the preservation of human rights. So, what was different this year? As stated by Jay Sugarman, chairman and chief executive officer of iStar Financial and event founder: “Understanding the economic environment, we have deemphasized our focus on monetary donations. The event’s real goal this year is awareness of its worthy beneficiaries. What we needed most was a loud crowd to help us make this year’s event extra fun and special. We encouraged people to get involved in the event by volunteering, making small donations or doing whatever they can to get on the court and change the game.” iStar Financial, the Jay & Kelly Sugarman Foundation, the iStar Charity Foundation, and Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, the event underwriters, are dedicated to actively broadening awareness and increasing charitable contributions for existing non-profit organizations including the evening’s beneficiaries: Baby Buggy, Robin Hood, Human Rights First and Teach for America. Funds raised by the iStar Charity Shootout are distributed equally among - Human Rights, Youth and Family Sustainability and Education. The Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce Presents Exhibition of Santiago Calatrava: World Trade Center Transportation Hub : NEW YORK-JULY 9: The Spain-U.S. Chamber of Commerce Presents Exhibition of Santiago Calatrava: World Trade Center Transportation Hub on July 9, 2009 at the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, New York City, NY. Santiago Calatrava, the world-renowned architect who has designed some of the most beautiful structures of our time, is the subject of a new exhibition, Santiago Calatrava: World Trade Center Transportation Hub, at New York City’s Queen Sofía Spanish Institute, a private non-profit Spanish cultural center, from May 8, 2009. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey commissioned Santiago Calatrava, S.A. to design the project in association with Downtown Design Partnership, a joint venture of DMJM + Harris and STV Group, Inc. In January 2004, when Santiago Calatrava unveiled his plans for the transportation hub, the daring design was seen as a symbol of renewal and hope after the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Since then, Santiago Calatrava has recommended some adjustments to the design to save time and money while preserving the overall integrity of the original design. The exhibition is an opportunity for commuters, subway riders and pedestrians to see that Calatrava’s design has transcended the complex challenges of the site and to view the development of this soaring, spectacular design which will significantly improve mass-transit connections across Lower Manhattan. Santiago Calatrava: World Trade Center Transportation Hub showcases architectural models along with a multimedia presentation and reinforce the evocative image of “a bird being released from a child’s hand”. This exhibition, on view through August 31, 2009, also presents selected American projects of Santiago Calatrava's celebrated buildings. Mongolian Sunglass Extravaganza : NEW YORK-JULY 2: Mongolian Sunglass Extravaganza on Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Red Sky Lounge, 47 E 29th Street, New York, NY. This is how the event worked: All attendees brought a pair of sunglasses, they can be old or new-any pair will do. A photograph of each guest was taken in the sunglasses. Before guests left the party, they left the sunglasses with the hosts, the girls from ValSecrets.com, Valeria Tignini and Elizabeth Yannone. After the party, the ladies will ship the glasses to a Swiss artist, Sébastien Sevaz, who will be leaving Switzerland for Mongolia on July 30th. Sébastien is going to distribute the sunglasses to Mongolian nomads and take a photos of the nomads wearing the sunglasses each individual donated. Guests will receive a copy of the photo. His concept is to create a website or book that will display all the people around the world offering a small gift to some people who need what he/we are giving for better use. Each guest will also have an option to write a note to the Mongolian Nomad who receives your rad shades. The note will be delivered to them with their glasses. A unique way to deliver a note would be through sharing art. Poverty remains widespread in the country of Mongolia despite efforts to reduce it. BIG TOP AT THE BOWERY to Benefit Cancer 101 : NEW YORK-JUNE 30: BIG TOP AT THE BOWERY to Benefit CANCER 101 on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Bowery Terrace at the Bowery Hotel, 335 Bowery (2nd and 3rd Sts.), New York City, NY. CANCER101 held its much anticipated BIG TOP AT THE BOWERY cocktail benefit tonight at the Bowery Terrace at the Bowery Hotel, to celebrate cancer patients, survivors and their caregivers. Despite the deluge of rain and thunderstorms, over 350 exciting and notable supporters attended the energetic, colorful, circus-themed cocktail party -- replete with popcorn, cotton candy, candy apples, STOGO ice cream, and of course, live performances by the Donnell Adler, Inc. and the renowned Broadway in South Africa troupe, including aerialists, acrobats, jugglers, stilt walkers, tarot card reader, magicians and hula hoopers. The Bowery Terrace was flooded with revelers who chased the rain away as they hula-hooped (it looks so much easier when someone else is doing it!) and danced to Xplosive Entertainment’s tunes. Hosted by the Today Show’s Hoda Kotb and Madame Paulette’s John Mahdessian, the Bowery Terrace was the showground for guests such as Shauna Brook, Ann Caruso, Shaokao and Nikki Cheng, Peter Davis, Robert Farrior, Melissa Foss, Miguelina Gambaccini, Monica Knoll, Anisha Lakhani, Kristian Laliberte, Keith Lissner, Erin Lucas, Aslaug Magnusdottir, Liam McMullan, Veronica Moncho-Lobo, Maggie Norris, Bianca Pratt, Euan Rellie, Susan Shin, Mona Wyatt Maine de Biran and more. Guests visited the “CANCER101 Lounge” while learning about the organization, as well as the SOLERNO VIP Lounge where they savored the ever-popular Solerno Bellinis . Meanwhile, Madame Paulette President, John Mahdessian greeted guests as the “Greatest Sponsor on Earth.” Indeed, Madame Paulette announced its year-long partnership with CANCER101, committing to raising funds for the organization through the auction of restored vintage designer gowns -- we are “saving clothes to save lives,” said Mr. Mahdessian. Other generous sponsors included Sanofi-Aventis, which was the “Big Top Sponsor”, Genentech, Inc. and The Greater New York Hospital Association, which were collectively, the “Three Ring Sponsors”. There were no circus animals but ferocity was the game, as bidding on the Silent Auction became heated; there was fierce competition over items such as a fuchsia Emanuel Ungaro handbag, a Tumi overnight tote bag, a Matthew Williamson clutch, House of Waris pendants, MODO for Jennifer Creel sunglasses, a Miguelina dress, a La Perla velvet and satin robe, a Warren-Tricomi salon experience with the dynamic duo themselves, Tibi swimsuit and wrap, a Calvin Klein gift certificate. Actual lines formed over the Rosenthal platinum vase that caused a tug of war as well as tickets to the CHOCHENG Spring/Summer 2010 fashion show at Bryant Park during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. In the spirit of giving but getting that 1 special item, guests also bought raffle tickets with hopes of winning a his and hers bottles of “the world’s most expensive perfume” – Clive Christian No. 1. Indeed, the evening was a celebration of all the good work that CANCER101 does and the progress that it has made since its founding in 2002 by cancer survivor Monica Knoll. CHOCHENG Atelier Opening : NEW YORK-JUNE 16: CHOCHENG Atelier Opening on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 51 East 63rd Street, between Madison & Park Avenues, New York City, NY. Designer Cho Cheng opened his much anticipated design salon --CHOCHENG -- in an elegant town house in New York City’s Upper-East Side tonight, to an intimate group of friends and supporters. The Atelier, which will cater to clientele who appreciate couture fashion, beautiful hand crafted workmanship and exclusive design translated into ready-to-wear, is reminiscent of the great couture houses of the late 1930’s, with celadon walls and white furnishings in a modern take on the Rococo period. A profusion of cascading phalenopsis orchids with artistic grass flourishes fromFLOWERS OF THE WORLD adorned the Atelier and the classic but modern arrangements were the perfect corollary to Cho Cheng’s designs – simple and elegant with unexpected flourishes and exquisite detail. Guests savored hors d’oeuvres and pastries (including Payard’s famous macarons) from TASTINGS and the tastemaker’s favorite VEUVE CLICQUOT champagne while they perused the Fashionista hosts Gillian Hearst Simonds and Lucy Sykes Rellie greeted guests with aplomb in their CHOCHENG jackets; Gillian wore a long, ivory silk weave jacket accented with gold buttons over a slinky chartreuse dress while Lucy sported a black, structured silk smoking jacket with a ruffled lapel over jeans and a t-shirt in a show of downtown savvy. Meanwhile, finance powerhouse and philanthropist Alexandra Lebenthal sported the red version of the smoking jacket worn with a matching miniskirt that stopped traffic on her way to the Atelier. Reflecting the designer’s versatility, Susan Shin swept through wearing a CHOCHENG lace kimono over a black sequined sheath. Long time clients Beatrice Pei and I.M. Pei’s granddaughter, Olivia Pei (who commissioned a red and gold metallic gown for her debut at the Crillon Ball), congratulated the young designer while celebrity fans such as Bebe Neuwirth commented that his designs were “a work of art – each one unique and fabulous.” She didn’t find anything that would be very Morticia-like for her new role in the upcoming Addams Family Broadway musical but admired a pink gown that she thought was very “Jackie O” - that is, until she saw a black satin qipao sheath that Morticia would die for… Other fans such as stylist Amanda Ross, designer Miguelina Gambaccini, “Well Schooled” author Anisha Lakhani, tea and lifestyle maven Tracy Stern, CBS’s Alison Harmelin, Fox News’ Kimberly Guilfoyle Villency, and InStyle publisher Connie Anne Phillips, joined in praising the designer who was named in March 2008 as one of China’s leading fashion designers – a recognition shared with fellow native sons Derek Lam, Peter Som and Phillip Lim. Only 23 years old but already an acclaimed designer, Cho Cheng has an elite following, from celebrities to socialites to prominent businesswomen, as reflected in the guests that attended. He also has been heralded as master of red carpet glamour, dressing notable actresses as well as an international social set -- fashion followers include Goldie Hawn, Nicole Kidman, Marcia Gay Harden, Bebe Neuwirth, Phyllis Newman, Nancy Regan, Maggie Rizer, Valesca Guerrand-Hermes and Tinsley Mortimer, to name a few. Cho Cheng debuted his ready-to-wear CHOCHENG Fall/Winter 2009 collection at Bryant Park during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in February 2009. With the opening of the Atelier in June 2009, Cho Cheng can now provide his distinctive signature designs to clients who appreciate personal attention and shopping in an intimate setting. The Atelier also will serve as a showroom providing retailers seasonal collections.
