Safe Horizon Junior Council Committee Kickoff
Saturday, August 26, 2006, 5-8:30 PM @ home of Safe Horizon Board Member Jane Rivkin and her husband, Jack Rivkin, 2 Tyson Lane West, East Hampton, New York--: Safe Horizon, the leading victim assistance charity, launches Junior Council Committee to create awareness and support among the next generation. Junior Council Chairs Anna Richardson and John Ordway lead a group of 17 socially conscious, dedicated, and inspired young New York City professionals in an effort to generate an understanding of Safe Horizon and to help secure a solid donor base for the organization. The Mexican themed party included hors d'oeuvres and margaritas provided by Zarela and wine provided by Barefoot Wine, and a Mariachi Band. By raising funds and educating the young public, the Junior Council will help to provide support, prevent violence and promote justice for victims of crime and abuse, their families and communities. Junior Council members come from various backgrounds and professions such as finance, event production and promotion, film and television, real estate, art and fashion, law, public relations and marketing, healthcare and pharmaceutical sales. Over the spring and the summer, the group has donated their time to learn about Safe Horizon through the organization's charity events, program tours, and by actively participating in fieldwork with Safe Horizon's Streetwork drop-in center for homeless youth.
