Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's "Downtown Dinner"
Thursday, May 4, 2006,6-9 PM at Cipriani at 55 Wall Street, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Annual "Downtown Dinner": The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) was founded by David Rockefeller and is New York City�s vital Downtown arts non-profit organization. The highly anticipated "Downtown Dinner" 2006 gala dinner and art auction honored New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver and New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn with the LMCC�s 2006 Leadership Award. Jim Quigley and Bill Freda, CEO and Northeast Magazine Partner of Deloitte and Touche, received the 2006 Distinguished Business Achievement Award for their dedicated recommitment to the vitality of lower Manhattan after 9/11. Kate Spade and Andy Spade were honored for their contribution and support of the Downtown Arts community. The evening included a silent auction of over 100 artworks donated by artists such as Marina Abramovic, Christo and Jeanne Claude, Sean Landers, Robert Longo, Emilio Perez, and Tom Sachs among others. Proceeds from the auction benefit the LMCC�s Agners Martin Workspace Fund for the LMCC�s artist in residency program. Ticket prices begin at $1000.
