Voices of September 11th: "3rd Annual Always Remember Gala"
NEW YORK-JUNE 14: Voices of September 11th: "3rd Annual Always Remember Gala" on Monday, June 14, 2010 at Bridgewaters, 11 Fulton Street, New York City, NY. Honorary Chairman: President Bill Clinton Event Co-Chairs: Bonnie McEneaney, Debby & Kevin McEneaney. 2010 Keynote Speaker: former Prime Minister Tony Blair. Performance by Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul & Mary . Voices Founding Director Mary Fetchet with her husband Frank Fetchet by her side, both of whom lost their son Brad Fetchet in the attacks of September 11th, reminded attendees what many of have come to realize since 9/11 and that both President George W. Bush and President William Jefferson Clinton recognize that America has no better friend than the cerebral and compassionate Tony Blair. Mr. Blair who was Britain’s youngest Prime Minister, has not stopped working to bring change to the world since leaving Downing Street. Tony Blair serves as the Quartet Representative to the Middle East. He represents the USA, UN, Russia and the EU, working with the Palestinians to prepare for statehood as part of the international community's effort to secure peace. The Tony Blair Faith Foundation promotes respect and understanding between the major religions and makes the case for faith as a force for good in the modern world. Faith is vitally important to hundreds of millions of people. But religious faith can also be used to divide. The Tony Blair Faith Foundation is a response to these opportunities and challenge. Speaking about solutions for extremism, including religious extremism, Mr. Blair stated rather succinctly that it is a combination of the force of arms and the force of ideas. As the photographer of record on this night, I was listening with my eyes. Never before has the essence of a man’s intellect and soul so forcefully resonated with me. The evening insured that the Voices of September 11th will never be forgotten and few will forget the lessons of 9/11 and the opportunity to be educated, informed and even enlightened by the insightful global perspective of a man of dignity, humility and honor and obviously great love for New York and America.
